Module 2: Understanding Conflict Styles

We all respond to conflict differently—but how often do we stop to reflect on where those responses come from, and how they show up at work? In this module, you’ll explore five common conflict styles and build deeper self-awareness around your own approach. You’ll also learn how to adapt your style with intention, especially in culturally diverse teams or leadership roles.

Whether you’re trying to reduce team tension, lead more effectively, or grow your emotional intelligence, this module will help you bring more clarity and choice to how you handle conflict.

I Will Learn How To:

  • Identify five common conflict styles and how they show up in the workplace
  • Reflect on my default conflict style and the factors that shaped it
  • Recognize when each style is helpful—and when it can cause harm
  • Explore how cultural background, power dynamics, and trust influence conflict behaviors
  • Adapt my conflict response based on social awareness and team context
  • Support psychological safety by responding to conflict with intention, not avoidance
