Ed Talks: Learning Brain Vs. Survival Brain

As we explore the challenging and changing world of the 21st century, where diversity is more inherent than stable, it will be necessary for us to confront such realities with an attitude of learning rather than simply surviving. We must recognize that the behaviors we demonstrate will determine the success of our efforts. These efforts can either lead to more innovative and productive workplaces for everyone or result in stagnation and demoralization of the places where we spend most of our working hours. This will require learning new techniques and competencies which will allow us to navigate and remain resilient in the years to come.

In this course, you’ll be guided through a conversation about the importance of taking a posture of learning rather than survival as you navigate this world of diversity. Tools and resources will be suggested to help you remain in a learning posture. This will lead to developing an individualized action plan to assist you in improving your ability to grow and develop into a person who can interact and lead others in creating a more equitable, inclusive, and diverse workplace for everyone.

I Will Learn How To:

  • Identify the differences between a survival posture and a learning posture.
  • Demonstrate a better understanding of the importance of having a learning rather than survival posture in the changing 21st-century workplace.
  • Summarize strategies that can be used to ensure that your behaviors and attitudes reflect a learning rather than a survival posture.
